The Golfdelaluz.com Northern Matchplay Golf Championship is a season-long knockout competition for amateur club golfers in the North of England.

There is an Individual and Betterball Pairs event split into three regions.

More than 1,000 golfers competed in the 2011 championship across both competitions.

The championship provides golfers with the opportunity to play competitive golf at different courses either free-of-charge or at significantly reduced green-fees.

Home & away first round...

The first round is played over 36 holes on a 'home & away' basis with a draw being made for home advantage in subsequent rounds.

Early rounds are regionalised to minimise traveling distances, however, the further you progress the further you may need to travel if drawn away.

The aim is to win a maximum of just six matches to reach your regional final to be held at one of the finest golf courses in the country.

Top class regional final venues...

We try to make ourselves stand out by getting top class venues for our regional finals.

In 2011 these included; Silloth on Solway, Wallasey, Berwick upon Tweed, West Lancs, Seaton Carew & Pannal whilst this year we've added Formby & Alwoodley to the rota.

All regional final venues in 2012 are ranked inside the top 25 courses in England and each has hosted the English Amateur Championship, a sign of true greatness.

Overseas grand final...

The winners at each regional final qualify for the grand final.

In 2012 this will take place overseas for the first time when 12 grand finalists will jet off to the stunning Arcos Gardens Golf Club & Country Estate near Cadiz in Spain.

Flights, transfers, golf and food is included at the grand final which culminates in a wonderful presentation dinner.
